GUESS WHO I DIDN'T SEE TODAY...

Pete and I went to Peet's and Jamba Juice today for drinks and oatmeal, by the way Jamba Juice has the best oatmeal and pomegranate smoothie. Anyway, we were setting there in the cool autumn weather. We were talking and watching people go by on their busy day. I looked up and thought I saw....
...HIM
talk about just about jumping out of your chair, but then not really knowing what to do.
Okay, I felt like an idiot...but that guy really looked like him. Pete just looked at me like I had totally lost it, but he still loves me. ; )

STILL ANXIOUSLY WAITING...

DECK OF CARDS...

Also known as "A Soldiers Prayer Book"

It was quiet that day, the guns and the mortars, and land mines for some reason hadn't been heard.
The young soldier knew it was Sunday, the holiest day of the week.
As he was sitting there, he got out an old deck of cards and laid them out across his bunk.
Just then an army sergeant came in and said, 'Why aren't you with the rest of the platoon?'
The soldier replied, 'I thought I would stay behind and spend some time with the Lord.'
The sergeant said, 'Looks to me like you're going to play cards.'
The soldier said, 'No, sir . You see, since we are not allowed to have Bibles or other spiritual books in this country,
I've decided to talk to the Lord by studying this deck of cards.'
The sergeant asked in disbelief, 'How will you do that?'
'You see the Ace, Sergeant? It reminds me that there is only one God.
The Two represents the two parts of the Bible, Old and New Testaments
The Three represents the Father, Son, and the Holy Ghost.
The Four stands for the Four Gospels: Matthew, Mark, Luke and John .
The Five is for the five virgins there were ten but only five of them were glorified.
The Six is for the six days it took God to create the Heavens and Earth.
The Seven is for the day God rested after making His Creation.
The Eight is for the family of Noah and his wife, their three sons and their wives -- the eight people God spared from the flood that de stroyed the Earth.
The Nine is for the lepers that Jesus cleansed of leprosy He cleansed ten, but nine never thanked Him. The Ten represents the Ten Commandments that God handed down to Moses on tablets made of stone.
The Jack is a reminder of Satan, one of God's first angels, but he got kicked out of heaven for his sly and wicked ways and is now the joker of eternal hell.
The Queen stands for the Virgin Mary.
The King stands for Jesus, for he is the King of all kings.
When I count the dots on all the cards, I come up with 365 total, one for every day of the year.
There are a total of 52 cards in a deck; each is a week - 52 weeks in a year.
The four suits represent the four seasons: Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter.
Each suit has thirteen cards -- there are exactly thirteen weeks in a quarter.
So when I want to talk to God and thank Him, I just pull out this old deck of cards and they remind me of all that I have to be thankful for.'
The sergeant just stood there. After a minute, with tears in his eyes and pain in his heart, he said, 'Soldier, can I borrow that deck of cards?'

Listen to Tex Ritter sing the original song

My dad first told me about this song and played it for me.
I am sure this song helped many soldiers through a lot.

SPEAKING OF MOVIES...

There is a rumor that Stephanie Meyer is at is again...
The Host is going to be made into a movie.
Way to go Stephanie... can't wait to see what you come up with next.
Maybe....Hopefully...Please...Yes, I am begging!!!!
It will be this book...
I am sure whatever she comes up with we will love it...
but could ya hurry!!!

COMING SOON...

When I was a little girl my mom and grandma used to watch
A soap opera, but a good one.
They didn't like me to watch it
but I was so intrigued and had to watch it
then I would have nightmares that Barnabas was after me.
Barnabas and Angelique were my favorite characters.

This was their house...
Well, I hear they are trying to film a remake of the soap and making into a movie.
Check it out HERE
Hummm, I think we are having a vampire craze...but I am always up for that.

CELEBRATE LIFE

Written By Regina Brett, 90 years old, Cleveland , Ohio

"To celebrate growing older, I once wrote the 45 lessons life taught me.
It is the most-requested column I've ever written.

1. Life isn't fair, but it's still good.
2. When in doubt, just take the next small step.
3. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone.
4. Your job won't take care of you when you are sick. Your friends and parents will. Stay in touch.
5. Pay off your credit cards every month.
6. You don't have to win every argument. Agree to disagree.
7. Cry with someone. It's more healing than crying alone.
8. It's OK to get angry with God. He can take it.
9. Save for retirement starting with your first paycheck.
10. When it comes to chocolate, resistance is futile.
11. Make peace with your past so it won't screw up the present.
12. It's OK to let your children see you cry.
13. Don't compare your life to others. You have no idea what their journey is all about.
14. If a relationship has to be a secret, you shouldn't be in it.
15. Everything can change in the blink of an eye.. But don't worry; God never blinks.
16. Take a deep breath. It calms the mind.
17. Get rid of anything that isn't useful, beautiful, or joyful.
18. Whatever doesn't kill you really does make you stronger.
19. It's never too late to have a happy childhood. But the second one is up to you and no one else.
20. When it comes to going after what you love in life, don't take no for an answer.
21. Burn the candles, use the nice sheets, wear the fancy lingerie. Don't save it for a special occasion. Today is special.
22. Over prepare, then go with the flow.
23. Be eccentric now. Don't wait for old age to wear purple.
24. The most important sex organ is the brain.
25. No one is in charge of your happiness but you.
26. Frame every so-called disaster with these words 'In five years, will this matter?'
27. Always choose life.
28. Forgive everyone everything.
29. What other people think of you is none of your business.
30. Time heals almost everything. Give time time.
31. However good or bad a situation is, it will change.
32. Don't take yourself so seriously. No one else does.
33. Believe in miracles.
34. God loves you because of who God is, not because of anything you did or didn't do.
35. Don't audit life. Show up and make the most of it now.
36. Growing old beats the alternative -- dying young.
37. Your children get only one childhood.
38. All that truly matters in the end is that you loved.
39. Get outside every day. Miracles are waiting everywhere.
40. If we all threw our problems in a pile and saw everyone else's, we'd grab ours back.
41. Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need.
42. The best is yet to come.
43.. No matter how you feel, get up, dress up and show up.
44. Yield.
45. Life isn't tied with a bow, but it's still a gift.."

JUST BECAUSE...

Life is too short to wake up with regrets.
So love the people who treat you right.
Love the ones who don't just because you can.
Believe everything happens for a reason.
If you get a second chance, grab it with both hands.
If it changes your life, let it.
Kiss slowly.
Forgive quickly.
God never said life would be easy.
He just promised it would be worth it.

OUR TRIP TO NEBRASKA

Pete and I flew to Nebraska to spend a couple of days with Jen and her family.
They had some friends over the first night and we watched the UFC fights.
Layla, Jen and Jer sharing a chair for the fights.
Layla just woke up from a little nap, came and set on my lap and we shared some ice.
Yeah, we both like to munch on ice.

The next morning Jen had Layla get in the shower with her.
After Jen got out she asked me to come see Layla in the shower.
I opened the door and said good morning...yeah, she went into her shy mode and would not look up. (Layla was really shy this trip and took a while to warm up to us)
Her new trick is to drink a bunch of water then let it run out of her mouth and get water all over.
We met Jeremy's parents and brother for dinner at CPK, Layla just wanted to run around so I walked outside with her and let her run.
I became a human swing

She wanted to smell the flowers.
Run...Run...Run

Playing in the dirt and having a great time.

Daddy came home for lunch and Layla went right to him. She loves her daddy.
I got her dressed but she did not want her hair done...Elmo was on.
We finally got her hair done, then she had to play with her hair accessories.
We went to Panera for lunch and Layla had to eat hers all by herself, geeze I wonder who that sounds like...her momma.

Yeah, she likes to run....
and ride the rides at Toys R Us
It was raining outside so she shared her umbrella with grandpa.
Grandpa and I bought her a training potty....she was trying to figure out what is was...
and ended up taking the soft ping seat and putting it around her legs...so funny.
Grandpa bought her a T-ball set...oh did they have fun.

Spitting water again...

She has shit in her eyes just like her mommy did...full of it!!!!
She loves her bath time

and her talking Elmo aunt Wendi got her for Christmas.

Hiding behind the waterfall at the zoo...

ooops...out of order...playing with her hair accessories again.
at the zoo, watching the penguins

here fishy fishy...

Trying to get the dogs bone
Playing with a jack in the box grandpa bought her

She has her own little stage and was entertaining us

The day we left to come home...sad day
She loves her grandpa!!!
Thanks, Jen and Jer for letting us come visit and spend time with you all.
Miss you!!!!

ONE OF MY FAVORITES...

...is at it again.
I just love Nicholas Sparks.
I have all of his books and have enjoyed everyone of them.
(Thanks Denise for getting me hooked)
I have also read them more than once.
He has a new book out...just bought it and can't wait to start reading it.
(I have to finish the one I am reading now first).
This is his new book:
Seventeen year-old Veronica “Ronnie” Miller’s life was turned upside-down when her parents divorced and her father moved from New York City to Wilmington, North Carolina. Three years later, she remains angry and alienated from her parents, especially her father… until her mother decides it would be in everyone’s best interest if she spent the summer in Wilmington with him. Ronnie’s father, a former concert pianist and teacher, is living a quiet life in the beach town, immersed in creating a work of art that will become the centerpiece of a local church. The tale that unfolds is an unforgettable story about love in its myriad forms – first love, the love between parents and children – that demonstrates, as only a Nicholas Sparks novel can, the many ways that deeply felt relationships can break our hearts… and heal them.
The movie is also coming out January 2010. (Miley Cyrus will be in it?)

This is another great one that will have a movie coming out February 2010.
Movie for this one is In Production.
When I saw this one coming out in theaters I quickly read the book again.
I now own the movie and love watching it.
Other movies by Nicholas Sparks: "The Notebook"," A walk to remember" and "Message in a Bottle"
Yea for Nicholas Sparks. You always know you are going to get the best with him.

THE BEAUTY OF NATURE...

While I was commuting to work yesterday morning
the sky lit up with some beautiful lightning.
Although lightning is so scary I think it is so fun to watch.

ENJOY THE RIDE, THERE IS NO RETURN TICKET

George Carlin's views on aging.
IF YOU DON'T READ THIS TO THE VERY END,
YOU HAVE LOST A DAY IN YOUR LIFE.

Do you realize that the only time in our lives when we like to get old is when we're kids? If you're less than 10 years old, you're so excited about aging that you think in fractions.

'How old are you?' ' I'm four and a half!' You're never thirty-six and a half. You're four and a half, going on five! That's the key.

You get into your teens, now they can't hold you back. You jump to the next number, or even a few ahead.

'How old are you?' 'I'm gonna be 16!' You could be 13, but hey, you're gonna be 16! And then the greatest day of your life ! You become 21. Even the words sound like a ceremony YOU BECOME 21. YESSSS!!!

But then you turn 30. Oooohh, what happened there? Makes you sound like bad milk! He TURNED; we had to throw him out. There's no fun now, you're Just a sour-dumpling. What's wrong? What's changed?

You BECOME 21, you TURN 30, then you're PUSHING 40. Whoa! Put on the brakes, it's all slipping away. Before you know it, you REACH 50 and your dreams are gone.

But wait!!! You MAKE it to 60. You didn't think you would!

So you BECOME 21, TURN 30, PUSH 40, REACH 50 and MAKE it to 60.

You've built up so much speed that you HIT 70! After that it's a day-by-day thing; you HIT Wednesday!

You get into your 80's and every day is a complete cycle; you HIT lunch; you TURN 4:30; you REACH bedtime. And it doesn't end there. Into the 90s, you start going backwards; 'I Was JUST 92.'

Then a strange thing happens. If you make it over 100, you become a little kid again. 'I'm 100 and a half!'
May you all make it to a healthy 100 and a half!!

HOW TO STAY YOUNG
1. Throw out nonessential numbers. This includes age, weight and height. Let the doctors worry about them. That is why you pay 'them.'

2 Keep only cheerful friends. The grouches pull you down.

3. Keep learning. Learn more about the computer, crafts, gardening, whatever, even ham radio. Never let the brain idle. 'An idle mind is the devil's workshop.' And the devil's name is Alzheimer's.

4. Enjoy the simple things.

5. Laugh often, long and loud. Laugh until you gasp for breath.

6. The tears happen. Endure, grieve, and move on. The only person, who is with us our entire life, is ourselves. Be ALIVE while you are alive.

7. Surround yourself with what you love , whether it's family, pets, keepsakes, music, plants, hobbies, whatever. Your home is your refuge .

8. Cherish your health: If it is good, preserve it. If it is unstable, improve it. If it is beyond what you can improve, get help.

9. Don't take guilt trips. Take a trip to the mall, even to the next county; to a foreign country but NOT to where the guilt is.

10. Tell the people you love that you love them , at every opportunity.

AND ALWAYS REMEMBER :
Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take,
but by the moments that take our breath away .

THOUGHTS

Dream as if you'll live forever . . .
Live as if you'll die today.

GOTTA LOVE...

JOSH GATES AND DESTINATION TRUTH

I am so proud of my medalist!!!

NEVER FORGET...

While I was busy at work yesterday filling out paperwork and getting ready for the busy day. The date dawned on me and I thought a lot about what happened 8 years ago, where I was and what I was doing. It made me sad to remember but it is something that we should never forget.

Eclipse Movie
